Psalm 37:16
16 Better the little that the righteous have than the wealth of many wicked;

@ Sunday, October 17, 2010 8:44 AM

Thank God for Pastor Jeff’s conscientious efforts in coming down to preach to us regularly. J Things will change, and things will move when God is here. Extremely delighted when Joos crossed the line of faith, not trying to claim credit, but yeah, matric has one more reason to be celebrated for.

I never regret being a part of it, and will never regret when I see how God worked through the people, to build relationships, to bring people nearer to Himself.

Isaiah 52:7 (New International Version)

7 How beautiful on the mountains
are the feet of those who bring good news,
who proclaim peace,
who bring good tidings,
who proclaim salvation,
who say to Zion,
"Your God reigns!"

So, NUS C all have beautiful feet now. Haha *prays for a not sweaty feet can alr, dun need beautiful, in Jesus’ name, Amen*

Been chatting a lot with Chew and sharing all the insights of life (raw thoughts, opinions, feelings, nonsense, jokes…..) and it all revolved around one analogy that struck us so utterly.

The analogy of someone drowning. Haha, and I know CHEW YINGLIN READS MY BLOG. HAHAH FASTER THANK ME FOR GIVING YOU SPECIAL TRIBUTE!

We all know that drowning is probably the worst way of dying. It’s horrible to have water in your lungs, and the more you struggle, probably more water will get inside your lungs. Sucks to be in that position. Suck to be in the waters, when Man is supposed to live on land. Sucks to be thrown off where you’re the most comfortable, sucks to have to kick with all your strength just to have another breath.

So drown-ers tend to get real desperate, they kick, they thread water, they pull whatever they see, they struggle to their best just to be alive.

If you want to help them, they will drag you, they will pull you, they will cling onto you. Because you’re their only hope, and you’re probably the only way they can get out of this shit. They don’t have the ability to be rational anymore. You’re all they see, so they just grab you.

So for NDU, they have this French-Fry float thing that they have to save people from drowning. So first thing they have to do is to assure the drown-er, grab the float, then jump in to save him/her.

In the process of getting nearer to the drown-er, they still have to keep eye contact on him/her to ensure he/she is not sinking, so that they would know when and where to dive in should that happens. And they are still required to assure and comfort the drown-er too.

And when they are like near enough, if I didn’t remember wrongly, they have to assure the drown-er again. And they have to make sure they, the savers, themselves don’t get hurt by the irrational kicking and dragging as well. Worse come to worse, hahah they are even allowed to knock the drown-er out! Hahaha WOOTS. Kidding! Then tie the float around the two of them and drag the drown-er up to shore.

It’s the same when it comes to helping our friends, our loved ones to solve their problems. They are drowning, some may not even realize that they are. So you see them being in that state, you want to help them. And you try and try and try and try. But sometimes, trying to help is not good enough. Their needs are still not met.

But sometimes, some of us missed out the assurance part. You saw him/her struggling, you say to yourself, “I can handle this, I’m gonna get her/him out alive.”

So, you grabbed the float and dived right in to play superhero. But wait, if I’m the one that’s drowning, yeah I’d grab you, that’s for sure because I’m desperate already. But there will also be this subconscious thought like, who are you? Are you sure you can get me out? I probably don’t even know if you’re strong enough to do this.

That’s why assurance is so important. Maybe because I’m a very ‘words’ person as well. I mean, how hard is it to say that you can be there for somebody, you will do your best for somebody. Especially to someone’s that drowning, someone’s that probably delusional and irrational. They just need some hope, and some comforting words from some sincere person who’s genuinely concerned about getting them out of their present plight.

Or, some of us, we are some eager to help, that we just dive right through. Sprint swim to the drown-er and try to tame him/her and grabbing them. Very good intentions, very very good intentions that I’d give a standing ovation for. But, by the time you reach the drown-er, you are like, half dead?! Hahaha no energy already.

Worse, if he/she sinks in between, you have absolutely no idea where he/she went down. Then you will just be a loner swimming out in the sea, getting wet for nothing. Losing and failing to meet the purpose of even diving in the first place.

And if you ever get to reach him/her, you’ll probably get kicked a thousand times for just grabbing him/her straightaway. They sure struggle de. They sure pull/grab/whatever you just to grasp for more air, just to have a better chance of surviving. And you gotta make sure you can handle the hurt, if not you’re a liability.

I feel a lot for this kinda savers, cause I think I fall into this category as well. Haha, I told chew when he first explained this to me. Haha. Okay dumb but yeah.

Liting : “I don’t really care if I can swim or not. If I see somebody struggling and there’s nobody else around, I’ll probably just find a float and dive right in lar. Haha, I don’t care already. If I can make somebody feel better for the last few second of his/her life, so be it lar.”

HAHAHAHHAHAH NOBLE SIOL JONAYU. *PATS MYSELF ON MY BACK*

Okay la, I evaluated my own response after that. Hahahah, if, IF there’s a chance, I would still make a call to tell my mom how much I love her before I jump in. LOL. If not, okay maybe a text to everyone on my phonebook, that’s faster right? LOL. Cuz, if you know me, I have this inherent fear of deep waters, partly due to my lack of ability to swim well. Hahaha. Yeah, the decision may seem dumb(even to myself). But, I don’t know what else to do. I mean, leave her/him there? Throw him the float and encourage her/him to swim up on his own? Doesn’t seem like a better way to me.

But yeah lar, the decision to jump in may be purely impulsive. That I have to agree. Haha Kim always say that to me too. Impulsive ah impulsive. Haha if I’m a guy, this would be a good trait! LOL (: but too bad, I happen to be Eve’s descendant instead. ROARS.

Guy or girl, still gotta learn how to save people safely. And the most important thing is DON’T FORGET YOUR FLOAT!

Don’t know, but I think like the drown-er is the victim, then probably we’re the saver, then God is the float. It is the most important thing when it comes to saving drowning people. Yeah lo, by human strength probably we really try to our utmost then we can save someone. With the float, things are much much easier, and the saving rate (hahah majiam bank) goes up like. Tremendously!
