Psalm 37:16
16 Better the little that the righteous have than the wealth of many wicked;

@ Friday, October 08, 2010 9:45 AM

Okay. Story time again. (:

So, once upon a time……

Haha okay, bad choice for introduction. Not so much of ‘once upon a time’, but this is an awkward beginning. LOL. I shall just dive right in.

So, as we all know, we are all born with perfect eyesight. But somehow along the way, be it due to our negligence, or nature taking its toll on us, our eyesight deteriorates as we grow older and older.

Usually, it all begins with the slight myopia. A little squinting, a little squeezing of the eyes would do the job. We would still be able to see whatever that’s on the board clearly; we would still be able to read the bus number properly. Most of us, okay the lazy people amongst us, haha would just let it be right. I mean, it’s so troublesome to go and get a new pair of specs. And it would make me look like a nerd, it would make me so much uglier. I shall just make do with this imperfect-perfect eyesight, it’s still working, right? Yes? No? I don’t really think it’s a big issue, yeah, we all agree……….

Then, because of the lack of proper care, the myopia increases. To about 100 to 200 degrees in power? We would probably kick the corner of our beds when we wake up because we can’t see too clearly (I always do); we would probably take bus 9 when we should be taking bus 2 instead (not anymore,haha). So now now, there is a problem already. It’s starting to create problems, hindering the way we used to live. The wise people, would have gone to the optician straightaway. But there will be just that few, just that few, who refuses to go and get their specs done! For whatever reasons, looks, laziness, cost, or just don’t think it was necessary for all the hassle. They would just try to squint even harder this time round, get their friends to help them check out the bus number, and cushion that area of their bed which they kept injuring themselves with.

And we all know where this would end, the myopia……….. increases! Yet again! The harder they squint, the more they are hurting their eyes. And now, it’s even harder to make out the bus number. So, finally they’re convinced that they can no longer go on with this imperfect-no longer perfect vision. It’s time for professional help. One who can provide the real solution, and make all this blurriness goes away. Whatever the solution maybe, the right specs, lasik sugery…. But once they attained the perfect vision once again. They would be like……….. ohhhhhhhhhhhhh. What did I missed this whole time?! Life’s so much more comfortable this way..

Oh wells, aren’t we all like that all the time? Oh, it’s a small issue. It doesn’t hurt (that much yet). I’m gonna be okay. I wouldn’t let it deteriorate. Trust me, like me. Like look at me, do I look like I’m gonna screw this up like all the others?! *does Pastor Jeff’s favorite move of rolling up sleeve to get your attention* LOL. Like, I totally can handle this? That’s what we all say, to ourselves, and to others.

Yeah right. The very next moment, we find ourselves falling. Because we weren’t careful. Because we thought too highly of ourselves, or because we thought too little of Satan. I’m not saying it’s wrong to make mistakes, it’s totally normal. And, yeah it’s totally human. But if we know that it’s gonna be a potential problem, then maybe we shouldn’t shove it aside that casually. From past experience, whatever I resolved not to do anymore, Satan offers me the very same option the very next second after making that particular decision. Best, he works real hard just to disturb us. So I’m gonna work doubly hard to not let him win! I’m not gonna sit and let my myopia increase on me, I’m gonna get the right specs, the right power to give me the perfect vision that I’m supposed to have. I’m not gonna settle for imperfect-perfect eyesight. I’m not gonna say, “I should have done this earlier”.

You shouldn’t too.

Cause that’s not what God intended you to do. Nor is that what He intended you to have. He wants you to have perfect vision. The kind that He gave you at birth. The kind that helps you lead life to the fullest, the kind that allows you to see Him as who He really is. His love, His sovereignty, His grace and His mercy. He doesn’t want us to squint and try to make out what the problem is with our limited knowledge. No matter how hard we try, you know, because of this poor eyesight, sometimes we still get everything wrong. Downright wrong. That’s when we start to get so jaded with ourselves? That we can’t see the big picture anymore. That we can’t seem to be unable to understand anything anymore. That everything is lost, and our hands are just meant to let things slip away. We try, we try so hard. We fight so damned hard just to make things right. But wait, what are we fighting for?

.

.

Nah, God doesn’t want us to fight without knowing that He will fight with us, and He will fight for us. So, go get your specs! The right kind of specs (:

As for those who are already wearing theirs faithfully, we too, need to get our eyes checked regularly. Wearing specs corrects our myopia, but proper care prevents future damages and sustains its effectiveness. So yup, gogogo!

Haha, I know, you may be thinking this post is pretty random. Yeah I agree, but it’s a revelation from searching for my specs last night. I was hell tired, and I removed my lenses already. I went to the place where I usually placed my specs but I couldn’t find it! So I searched high and low for it, but yeah, with this super poor eyesight, I couldn’t really make out what’s on the table exactly. So I had to ask my mom to help me search. LOL. Thanks mummy. And it’s really frustrating to put in my best effort to search for it, but still not find it in the end….. so it led to a revelation of the importance of eyesight. Then to something more, which is this post. LOL. Thanks for making it here. Hope it kinda made sense, I tried my best!
